Brazil’s Ministry of Agriculture (MAPA) has revised the rules on the pesticides import and licence applications. The amendments published in official gazette of this month aim to guide the companies in this sector that just last year had 22,000 licenses granted.
The initial procedure is to fill out an application and submit it to one of 27 Agriculture Federal Superintendents (SFAs). Then, MAPA would have 30 days to provide a response. However, Prior to the application, the company will have to register at the state department and the pesticide must be registered at MAPA.
Currently, data checks and import license are implemented manually through up to three support systems: Siscomex, AGROFIT and Sigvig. The Government’s normative rule provides an integrated work.
