The multinational Koppert presented two new biological input solutions during Hortitec 2025, the largest horticulture fair in Latin America. The fair, held at Parque Expoflora in Holambra (São Paulo, Brazil), was covered by AgroPages.

csm_Trichoderma_harzianum_a436438f50.jpgThe first innovation launched at the fair was the biofungicide and bionematicide Trichodermil, developed with the beneficial fungus strain Trichoderma harzianum ESALQ 1306.

According to Koppert, the product acts through three complementary mechanisms: the first is antagonism, preventing the colonization of phytopathogenic microorganisms.

The second mode of action is mycoparasitism, directly attacking the hyphae and sclerotia of harmful fungi.

Lastly, Trichodermil works via antibiosis, producing enzymes that degrade the cell wall of fungi and nematodes in the soil.

Koppert further noted that this launch protects against root diseases in a number of crops, as well as inducing resistance and plant growth, and features a highly technological formulation that makes it easy to apply in the field.

Applicable to all crops with the occurrence of the target biologicals, Trichodermil protects plants against soil pathogens such as dry root rot (Fusarium solani f.sp. phaseoli), root rot (Rhizoctonia solani), soybean stem rot (Sclerotinia sclerotiorum), lesion nematode (Pratylenchus zeae), and pineapple rot (Thielaviopsis paradoxa).

Chevelle

Another solution launched at Hortitec 2025 was the biological nematicide Chevelle, formulated with Bacillus amyloliquefaciens, strain UMAF6614.

This product is recommended against nematodes, such as Meloidogyne incognita (root-knot nematode), Meloidogyne javanica (root-knot nematode), and Pratylenchus brachyurus (lesion nematode).

According to Koppert, Chevelle functions as a resistance inducer and plant growth promoter, especially in citrus, coffee, fruits and vegetables.

″The product stimulates the plants’ natural defenses and increases their resistance to biotic and abiotic stresses,″ said Koppert.

Koppert also announced that the combined use of Trichodermil and Chevelle ″enhances field results″ and ″provides efficient management of soil diseases, in addition to promoting healthy plant growth.″

The main benefits of this combination are ″Significant reduction of root diseases; improved overall plant health and vigor; and increased crop productivity,″ added Koppert.

″Koppert highlights its commitment to bringing innovation and sustainability to the field, contributing to more efficient and eco-friendly agricultural practices,″ the company said.
