The multinational agricultural sciences company FMC made its mark at Hortitec 2025 with a series of new biological input launches. The fair, held in the Brazilian state of São Paulo with the presence of AgroPages, is considered the largest horticulture event in Latin America.
FMC’s introduction of the microbiological insecticide Calezar, a product formulated based on the fungus Beauveria bassiana, isolate IBCB 66. According to FMC, this technology is recommended for pest control in a variety of crops.
Romesar, in turn, is a microbiological fungicide formulated from the fungus Trichoderma harzianum, isolate IBLF006. Evedar is another microbiological insecticide, formulated from a mixture of two fungi: Beauveria bassiana, isolate IBCB 66, and Metarhizium anisopliae, isolate IBCB 425.
In addition to these launches, FMC highlighted other well-established biological inputs, such as Crop Evo, Seed Evo (biopotentiators), and Quartzo, a bionematicide. Special emphasis was also given to the biofungicide Provilar, which acts preventively and over a prolonged period against white mold (Sclerotinia sclerotiorum). This product, which can be used in conjunction with other chemical crop protection products, has a triple mode of action, combining antibiosis, competition, and the systemic induction of resistance.
Another highlight is the biofungicide Ataplan, which protects crops from attacks by major soil fungi, such as Fusarium sp., Rhizoctonia sp., Pythium sp., and Colletotrichum sp. These organisms can affect seed germination and the emergence of seedlings, cause damping-off, impact final plant stand, and reduce crop yield potential and grain quality by 10% to 40%.
″Biological products represent a new era for agriculture: more efficient, resilient, and aligned with environmental and social demands. Farmers who adopt integrated management with biological and chemical solutions gain in productivity, profitability, and environmental responsibility,″ noted Luís Grandeza, crop and portfolio manager at FMC.
Onsuva with Extended Label
Additionally, FMC noted that the recently launched fungicide Onsuva, already a benchmark for soybean, corn, and cotton management, will soon be registered for crops, such as potato, tomato, carrot, onion, garlic, beet, and cassava, among others.
With its exclusive active ingredient, fluindapyr, Onsuva has demonstrated superior control, compared to current market standard molecules. This launch represents a major advance in the management of fungal diseases in vegetables, offering a new tool to combat important pathologies, especially the leaf spot complex, such as Alternaria spp., Cercospora spp., and Anthracnose.
″Onsuva® is about to be registered for use in fruit and vegetable crops, with commercialization expected to begin in September, and to complement integrated management FMC will also feature Premio® Star and Verimark® insecticides,″ added Grandeza.
