Corteva Agriscience has announced the introduction of insecticide Incitro (Spinetoram) during the Expocitros 2025 fair, which marks its 50th edition this year and features the presence of AgroPages. The new product, now part of the Citrus Line, is formulated as Water-Dispersible Granules (WG).

Incitro is composed of Corteva’s exclusive molecule, Jemvelva™ Active, which the company describes as offering ″high knockdown power, broad-spectrum control, prolonged residual effect, selectivity, and a shorter safety interval,″ allowing harvest just one day after application.

The launch from Corteva Agriscience belongs to the chemical group of spinosyns, which are effective in controlling greening, according to the Citrus Defense Fund (Fundecitrus). The molecule was the subject of a study conducted throughout four microregions of the citrus belt in São Paulo state, as well as the Triângulo and Southwest regions of Minas Gerais in Brazil. The tests were carried out by the Arthropod Resistance Laboratory at Esalq/USP (Luiz de Queiroz College of Agriculture, a unit of the University of São Paulo).

According to  Corteva Agriscience, the new non-systemic insecticide features a ″unique mode of action in the market″ for managing the primary pest affecting citrus orchards: the psyllid Diaphorina citri, the insect vector of the bacterium Candidatus Liberibacter spp., responsible for greening. In addition to this threat, Incitro is also indicated for controlling the citrus fruit borer (Gymnandrosoma aurantianum).

Corteva Agriscience noted that Incitro arrives as a tool tailored for citrus farming: ″It is recognized as one of the most innovative and sustainable technologies in the world, having won the Green Chemistry Award, endorsed by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).″

″The Citrus Line from Corteva offers an innovative and continuously growing portfolio that provides protection to orchards from the start to the end of the harvest season,″ according to Guilherme Ogata, Portfolio Leader for Citrus, Coffee, and Horticulture at Corteva Agriscience.

Further, said Ogata, the introduction of Incitro strengthens the solutions researched and developed by the company to address the daily challenges of citrus farming, which have become increasingly significant each season due to the incidence of the psyllid.

″Bringing this launch to Expocitros, the most traditional fair in the sector in Brazil, is a way to show producers that we stand by their side and are working for them,″ noted Ogata. During the event, which also includes the 46th Citrus Week, the company will highlight the benefits and unique features of its Corteva solutions, including fungicides, acaricides, and herbicides.
