In the farming arena, root system is referred to as the ″source of life″ of crops, the health status of which directly impacts nutrient uptake, stress resistance and the ultimate yield. However, the reality is that a lot of issues such as successive cropping obstacle, soil hardening and pesticide damage are ruthlessly eroding the vitality of root system, which undoubtedly pose great challenges to growers. In this context, as an ″invisible helper″ to modern agriculture, the evolution of rooting technology is quietly changing the pattern and profitability of farming.

At present, the rooting agents available on the market are in general split to three categories: Regulators, nutrients and biostimulants, each of which has its own characteristics, but is all faced with weaknesses that are difficult to fix.

Regulating rooting agents, represented by indoleacetic acid (IAA), naphthylacetic acid (NAA) and indolebutyric acid (IBA), can directly stimulate root cell division, thereby promoting rooting, with its very prominent quick-acting effect, being especially fit for emergency treatment after transplanting. However, at the same time, this kind of rooting agent has a lot of pain points: Sensitive concentration and excessive use, which may easily lead to deformed roots and premature aging; Short acting duration, which can hardly fulfill the long-time rooting needs; lower safety, which may cause phytotoxicity when being applied in mix with pesticides. For example, there is a high risk when naphthylacetic acid is used in mix with herbicides.

Compared to regulating rooting agents, nutrient rooting agents are much more moderate. This kind of rooting agent uses humic acid, alginic acid and amino acids to indirectly promote the development of root system by providing extra nutrition, thus being safer and more environment friendly, fit for long-time care. However, nutrient rooting agents also have their limits: Dependence on soil condition, much-reduced effect in poor or acidified soils; slow to take effect, usually taking 2-3 times of consecutive applications to take effect.

Biostimulant rooting is a ″green″ choice emerged in recent years, which includes microbial agents (such as Bacillus subtilis) and enzymes which effectively improve the soil environment by regulating the rhizosphere to promote root growth, being fit for organic farming. However, this type of rooting is also not perfect: High dependence on environment; its activity will drop sharply under harsh conditions such as low temperature and drought; it is technically high-demanding as the survival rate of strains is directly related to the technical process of carrier, which has a significant impact on product effect.

As the growers face the dilemma of ″quick but not safe, safe but not quick″, Hailir’s 3-way rooting agent comes into being. As China’s first rooting product launched with the concept of ″safe with no premature aging,″ the 3-way rooting agent has successfully achieved a perfect quick-safe balance, by virtue of its three-way collaboration based on ″regulator + bioenzyme + nutrition.″ This brings a new hope to growers.

One of the core competences of Hailir’s 3-way rooting agent lies on its golden ratio. Its carefully-selected IBA induces thicker roots and more lateral roots versus NAA, without the risk of root deformation; the precise 1% concentration is scientifically verified, which is an optimum balance between root promotion and safety, effectively avoiding the situation of ″excessive rooting and premature aging″ which is quite common in conventional hormone product applications.

In addition to the golden ratio, Hailir’s 3-way rooting agent encompasses a patented technology - High active bioenzyme, which is Hailir’s proprietary technology playing a vital role in the product performance. On the one hand, the bioenzyme can accelerate the delivery and utilization of IBA to greatly increase root promotion by more than 30%. On the other hand, it can decompose herbicide and fungicide residues in soil to restrain the inhibiting effect of pesticides on root system, thus creating more favorable conditions for the healthy growth of root system.

In terms of nutrition, Hailir’s 3-way rooting agent is also doing very well, using the dual-nutrition mechanism based upon alginic acid and organic matter. The alginic acid provides crops with natural factors of stress resistance, which significantly improve crop’s cold-resistant and drought-enduring capacity, whilst the plenty of organic matter improves the rhizosphere microenvironment and enhances the ion exchange capacity to provide root growth with more fertile soil.

Hailir’s 3-way rooting innovation is not only a simple upgrade of ingredients, but is a representation of the profound change of the concept of planting. The product bids farewell to the past pattern of ″excessive rooting″ and turns to the new path of ″collaborative activation″. As concerns over soil health are growing, a right rooting agent, like Hailir’s 3-way rooting agent which is both ″quick and safe,″ will be undoubtedly the first key to open the door to high yield and stable yield.
