Bayer AG'sBrazil unit has seen a surge in barter operations, with the company selling farm agrochemicals in exchange for a portion of the crop, as the country struggles to emerge from its harshest recession on record.
The strategy, intensified amid a scarcity of accessible credit lines to farmers, will enable the company to raise sales from barter operations by at least 25 percent to more than $300 million this year, said Eduardo Roncaglia, director of structured operations at Bayer's Brazil unit.
