Dow AgroSciences shows confidence in Chinese market

According to information provided by Dow Agrosciences, the company achieved a turnover of US$159 million from Chinese market in 2012, which is 34% up over the US$119 million in 2011, 12% higher than its targeted turnover of US$143 million, being attributable to the continued growth of herbicide market as well as the robust growth of rice and its product series.

Dow AgroSciences believes its achievement to be a result of the company’s continued strategies of New Product Development, Channel Development and New Segment Development.

Over 60% of the sales of Dow AgroSciences comes from its herbicides, of which its 5 advantageous varieties -- aminopyralid, pyroxsulam, penoxsulam, spinetoram and sulfoxaflor are expected to generate a global sales of US$800 million in 2013. Over recent years Dow AgroSciences has obtained the registration of 21% aminopyralid aqueous, 7.5% pyroxsulam water dispersed granule, 22% penoxsulam suspended concentrate, 25g/L oil flowable concentrate and 60g/L spinetoram suspended concentrate. Additionally Dow AgroSciences has formulated a combined variety program covering the 4 major crops -- rice, wheat, vegetable and fruit, aiming to provide farmers with a full set of crop solutions.

For channel development, Dow AgroSciences attaches importance to team build and technology-based marketing; meanwhile effort is made to promote new product trials among excellent customers to establish a good communication between Dow AgroSciences and retailers / end-users, as well as to use the best logistic service management system to ensure fast delivery of goods.

Outlook

In 2013 Dow AgroSciences aims to rank No.2 in the crop protection industry of Chinese market with sales of US$2 million in Chinese market, as well as to establish advanced products in rice and wheat market to support a sustainable development whilst  positively participating in the Chinese seed market.

Dow AgroSciences is prepared to take following measures to further consolidate its resources and make adjustment to the business strategy so as to achieve the above projections:

 To establish a competent team.
 To develop rice -- wheat combined strength, as well as to grow fruit and vegetable market share.
 To get more competitive and flexible supply chain/ functional support.
 To grow sales and improve profitability via fast release of new product and patented product.
 To increase the influence on channels and make preparation for change of channels.
 To make an entry to seed market and to hold soon a certain percentage of market share.
 To speed up implementation of the No.2 Brand Strategy
