EngageAgro USA has entered into an exclusive distribution agreement with Marrone Bio Innovations, Inc. (MBI) for its Grandevo PTO (Chromobacterium subtsugae ) bioinsecticide product in the U.S.  Trevor Thorley, President of Engage Agro USA sees a great fit for Grandevo PTO which is registered for use on turfgrass and ornamentals, in their product portfolio:

“Effective and biologically-based products are very attractive to golf courses, lawn care companies, and ornamental growers because they are always looking for new solutions that work and address their sensitivity to conventional pesticide usage. With Grandevo PTO we can offer these customers an EPA-registered, OMRI-certified, broad-spectrum insecticide with university-backed data that reduces the pesticide load and helps them manage insect resistance issues. Engage Agro USA also sells another MBI product, Regalia PTO biofungicide, so we feel our company is leading the way in offering the turf and ornamental markets innovative, biologically-based solutions that offer many benefits beyond just excellent performance.”

Grandevo PTO ‘s active ingredient, Achromocil (Chromobacterium substugae),is a broad-spectrum insecticide labeled for use in turf, ornamental, and greenhouse markets. It is labeled for use in cool and warm season turfgrasses for control of chinch bugs, sod webworms, cut worms, several species of white grub, and other turf pests. On herbaceous and woody ornamentals and conifers, Grandevo PTO can be used to control aphids, whiteflies, thrips, numerous Lepidoptera species, and many other species of damaging insects.

Grandevo PTO controls insects through three actions – oral toxicity, repellency, and reduced reproduction.  Because of these varied and complex actions, it carries very little risk of insects developing resistance and should be a component in Integrated Resistance Management (IRM) and Integrated Pest Management (IPM) programs.

Regarding the agreement with Engage Agro USA, Hector Absi, Sr. Vice-President at MBI comments, “Engage Agro USA has shown great enthusiasm and knowledge in promoting the products and we are both pleased at the expansion of our collaboration to this new product.”
