US to approve Amvac's SmartBlock

The US EPA has proposed to approve American Vanguard’s (Amvac) new active ingredient 3-decen-2-one (SmartBlock® coded as AMV1018) for used in or on stored potatoes.
3-decen-2-one is a biochemical potato sprout inhibitor, usually used as a post-harvest treatment in or on stored potatoes. It is also an FDA-approved direct food additive.
Amvac has ever successfully developed and globally tested 3-decen-2-one in 2011 and still awaits both U.S. and Canadian registrations.
The US EPA will open the public comments until Feb 1st, 2013.
