US EPA cancels registration for three pesticidesqrcode

U.S. EPA has issued cancellation order for three pesticides’ registrations in response to some voluntarily cancel requests by registrants. These three pesticides are insecticide halofenozide from Dow AgroSciences and Setre Chemical Company, insecticide/acaricide aldicarb from Bayer CropScience and insecticide allethrins from Sumitomo and Valent BioSciences.

According to EPA, registration of halofenozide has been cancelled and all uses of this pesticide has also been terminated, which effective on December 21, 2012. The registrants, Dow AgroSciences and Setre Chemical Company are requested to end any sale, distribution or use of existing stocks of the products by December 23, 2013, except for export in accordance with FIFRA.

The cancellation of aldicarb is effective December 19, 2012. Bayer CropScience are requested to end the sale, distribution or use of existing stocks of the products by December 19, 2013, except for export in accordance with FIFRA. Bayer may only sell or distribute Temik 15G end-use products permitting use on cotton, dry beans, peanut, soybean, sugar beets, and sweet potatoes until December 31, 2014, any other party is permitted until December 31, 2016. Sale of stocks after that dates will only be allowed for exports.

EPA intends to issue an order for canceling all of the technical registrations as of September 30, 2015 and end use product registrations for allethrins by December 31, 2016 after receiving voluntarily cancel request from Sumitomo and Valent BioSciences. Anyone will be requested to end the sale, distribution allethrins technical products by September 30, 2015, except for exports. Use of technical products to formulate end-use products won’t be permitted after December 31, 2015. Any other party other than registrants will be permitted to sell, distribute, or use existing stocks of cancelled end use products in accordance with the terms of this order, including any existing stocks provisions until January 1, 2017.
