Valent’s RyzUp SmartGrass PGR Registered for Use in Silage Corn

Valent U.S.A. Corporation announced that RyzUp SmartGrass® Plant Growth Regulator (active ingredient: gibberellic acid) has been registered by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for use on corn grown for silage. 

RyzUp SmartGrass accelerates plant growth early in the growing season, resulting in more dry matter production and increased silage yield at harvest.

"With the value of corn silage continuing to rise, RyzUp SmartGrass provides a proven and effective method for growers to increase their corn silage yields and improve their bottom line,” said Jim Hansen, marketing manager for Valent. “Not only does RyzUp SmartGrass provide a significant boost in plant growth during the early part of the growing season, it does so without sacrificing feed quality.”

RyzUp SmartGrass can be applied anytime between the second to sixth leaf stage in silage corn and may be tank mixed with herbicides, fungicides or fertilizers to help minimize fuel and labor costs. At the recommended use rate range of 0.3 to 0.5 ounces per acre, one bottle of RyzUp SmartGrass treats six to 10 acres.

RyzUp SmartGrass is listed by both the Organic Materials Review Institute (OMRI) and the National Organic Program (NOP) for use in organic production. It is an excellent option for both conventional and organic dairies.

RyzUp SmartGrass is also registered for other forage crops such as pasture grass and small grains, and has been extensively researched and tested globally.
