Syngenta is helping growers stay one step ahead of cotton insect pests by increasing the rate of thiamethoxam (Cruiser® insecticide seed treatment) 10 percent in Avicta® Complete Cotton nematicide/insecticide/fungicide seed treatment for the 2012 growing season.  The enhanced rate will allow cotton growers who have come to rely on Avicta Complete Cotton as their standard seed treatment solution to better combat early-season insects with more consistent performance.

Introduced in 2006, Avicta Complete Cotton, an on-seed application of separately registered products, offers growers an innovative and convenient seed-delivered technology, designed to effectively protect cotton seedlings against all classes of early-season pests, nematodes, insects and diseases. “While Avicta Complete Cotton is a proven seed treatment, in recent years, we have seen increased early-season pressure from thrips and other damaging insects,” said Scott Martin, Ph.D., technical asset lead, Syngenta. “In response, we have increased the insecticide component, thiamethoxam, by 10 percent to provide a heightened measure of protection and an even better offering for cotton growers,” he said.
