US re-registration for tetramethrin

The US EPA has determined that the non-crop pyrethroid insecticide, tetramethrin, is eligible for re-registration subject to certain label changes. The insecticide poses no human health risks but measures are needed to address ecological risks, the EPA concludes. Tetramethrin is “highly toxic” to aquatic organisms so the Agency requires a reduction in potential exposure. Outdoor applications will be largely confined to spot and crack-and-crevice treatments. Tetramethrin has horticultural and residential uses. The technical registrants are Sumitomo Chemical and its subsidiary, Valent BioSciences. There are 58 end-use registrants with about 300 products.
