The US EPA has concluded that no additional data are required to support the registrations of the first two biopesticides to undergo registration reviews. The Agency has issued the first proposed registration review decisions for fungicides based on Trichoderma spp and linalool-based insect repellents. They are open to public comment until September 8th. The EPA began the registration reviews last year.
The Trichoderma spp group of biopesticides includes four active ingredients, of which only three are currently registered: BioWorks’ T-22 (T harzianum strain KRL-AG2 ATCC 20847); Binab’s T-75 (T polysporum strain ATC 20475) and T-76 (T viride strain ATC 20476). The EPA plans to cancel the tolerance exemption for Makhteshim-Agan Industries’ T-39 (T harzianum strain T-39), which is no longer registered. The EPA lists 16 registrations for linalool-based products, including 11 in combination with conventional pesticides.
