The Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) has ordered the recall of 52 agrochemical products supplied by Imtrade Australia (Kwinana, Western Australia). The move follows a police search of the company’s premises in relation to an APVMA investigation into regulatory compliance.
The APVMA ordered the recall after it became aware that “false information” was provided by the company in its registration applications for the products concerned. In particular, a manufacturing site nominated by the company “did not exist”, the APVMA points out. Distributors and retailers must stop selling the 52 listed pesticides and return them to Imtrade.
The affected products include herbicides, insecticides and fungicides, mostly sold under the ChemAg brand. They make up about a quarter of Imtrade’s range of some 200 products.
