Shandong Kangqiao’s pyraclostrobin EC granted registration in Canada, another important breakthrough in North American market

AgroPages just learned that in 2022, Shandong Kangqiao Biotechnology Co., Ltd., achieved one more important breakthrough in the marketing of its strategic product pyraclostrobin in the North American market. 

In August 2022, the Canadian authority, PMRA, approved the registration of Shandong Kangqiao’s pyraclostrobin 250 EC, under Registration No. 34601. This breakthrough by Kangqiao in the North American market follows the approval of its independent registration of pyraclostrobin TC in Canada (Registration No. 33728) in March 2020.

Pyraclostrobin is used widely around the world and is registered for application on more than 180 types of crops in over 80 countries. It is a versatile high-activity, high-efficiency, low-toxicity and broad-spectrum fungicide, and is both preventive and curative, achieving satisfactory penetration and systemicity and showing effective activity against almost all fungal diseases. It also has the functions of plant healthcare, stress resistance and yield increase. In 2016, global sales of pyraclostrobin hit $750 million, making it the fifth leading fungicide variety in the world.

After pyraclostrobin came off patent in China in 2015, Chinese enterprises have started production rapidly and extensively. As a prime pyraclostrobin manufacturer in China, Kangqiao has prioritized the pyraclostrobin process and formulation innovation, and successfully developed a pyraclostrobin production process in 2011, which was filed for an invention patent in 2014 and was authorized for both technicals and formulations in 2015. 

Currently, the company has a production capacity of 1,500 tons of pyraclostrobin technical, which meets the requirement of nanometer particle sized suspensions, registered for application on medicinal materials and flowers, as well as fruit trees and field crops. 

Going forward, Kangqiao is prepared to continue its innovative technical-formulation and integrated development of key product varieties, including pyraclostrobin, spirodiclofen and thifluzamide. In the meantime, it is making continuous improvements to product quality and product efficiency, as well as reducing production cost. Kangqiao will also commit greater resources to independent product registration in more overseas markets, such as the EU and Brazil, which will pave the way for the company’s international market development.
