No stranger to the suppliers and growers of fruits and vegetables produced on the Central Coast, Tommy Escalante becomes the newest hire at Certis USA, the biopesticide company. He fills the position of Central California Coast Regional Sales Manager left vacant by the recent promotion of Jeremy Briscoe to Specialty Ag Business Manager. Escalante reports to Briscoe as he works the coastal territory that he has covered throughout his 15-plus-year career.

Escalante previously served as South Western Region Sales Manager for BioScientific, Inc. of Phoenix, AZ. For BioScientific, Escalante represented an extensive line of biological products to major agricultural distributors. Escalante also worked for the Oxnard branch of Western Farm Service/CPS selling products to the turf and ornamental segment of the industry.

Briscoe said Escalante’s sales success and experience comes from a solid base in practical agriculture. After his graduation from college, Escalante worked for Seaboard Produce/Mugu Farm Supply, also of Oxnard, as a pest control adviser scouting 4,000 acres.

Briscoe said, “The specialty ag market poses many challenges today from water restrictions to drought to concerns of additional scrutiny of residue limits. But it is also a time when biopesticides and biorational products are more needed than ever. We need boots on the ground that know this area and its needs. Tommy is an excellent fit with the Central Coast and with Certis.”

Escalante holds a B.S. degree in Fruit/Crop Science from Cal Poly State University--San Luis Obispo. He is a member of the California Association of Pest Control Advisers. Escalante will work from his office in Ventura.
