Syngenta announced that it supports a FIFRA Section 2(ee) recommendation for use of Demand CS and Demand EZ insecticides with iCAP technology to control brown marmorated stink bug (Halyomorpha halys) and kudzu (or globular) bug (Megacopta cribraria) on outdoor surfaces.

"These species of stink bug are not native to the United States, so they have few, if any, natural enemies,” said Dr. ElRay Roper, senior technical representative, Syngenta Professional Pest Management. “They can build up huge populations, and, until now, pest professionals have had few tools labeled to help control these invasive pests around homes and other structures.”

Brown marmorated and kudzu bugs are additions to the labels for Demand CS and Demand EZ, which already include more than 30 other common insects and pests. The patented iCAP-technology formulation of these microencapsulated products includes dual-walled construction to provide strength and controlled release of the active ingredient, lambda-cyhalothrin.  A mixture of capsule sizes, ranging from 5 to 22 microns, provides extended residual control. The smaller capsules quickly release while the larger capsules release the active ingredient slowly to lengthen the control.

"The formulation of Demand CS and EZ keeps the active ingredient on the treated surface, so it is available to the pests without breaking down,” said Roper. “Pest management professionals will be pleased with how effective it is in controlling these stink bugs and many other pests.”
