Jiangshan’s 1,000-ton S-metolachlor upgrading brought on stream

A few days ago, Chinese agrochemical company Jiangshan’s key upgrading project encompassing 7,600-ton high-efficient green crop protection products was successfully put into operation. The project takes a total investment of RMB120 million, which is expected to generate annual sales of nearly RMB350 million after being put into official operation.

The above project includes annual 1,000-ton metolachlor, 1,000-ton S-metolachlor and 5,000-ton diazinon production units. The diazinon unit was put into trial run in May as planned; the metolachlor unit was put under commissioning; and the S-metolachlor was put into trial run in August. The successful running of these units plays a good foundation for the future business development of the company. 

The production and development of high-efficient and low-toxic crop protection products such as diazinon, L-glufosinate and S-metolachlor are not only required by the program of the pesticide-use zero growth but are also alternatives to substitution of the burndown paraquat which has been banned. In addition, the new alternatives can solve the weed resistance problem as caused by the long-term use of some of the herbicide varieties.
