Innovative lid for pesticide packaging developed in Brazil

By Leonardo Gottems, Reporter for AgroPages

Campo Limpo and FMC jointly developed an innovative lid for agrochemical packaging. The so-called “Ecocap Smart” has a laser printed QR Code that directs users to the manufacturer's website, attesting to the authenticity of the product.

It also has the company's brand printed on the seal, reducing the risk of violations.

“Printing is a simple, intelligent and efficient idea, which allows access to the product batch from any cell phone while ensuring security against counterfeiting. Laser engraving does not generate residue and can become a personalized communication channel,” explained Ricardo Bellinghini (Director of Campo Limpo Tampas e Resinas Plásticas).

Denilson Almeida (Technical Coordinator of LATAM Packaging at FMC) said that the project, developed by FMC and Campo Limpo, aims to offer an accessible and functional solution, stating, “The objective was to implement a concept of identification with higher quality and efficiency to meet the needs of FMC, which always prioritizes sustainability in all its production processes.”

In addition to security and traceability, Ecocap Smart helps connect companies with users while facilitating marketing, promotions, awards and commemorative editions. “The solution expands the contact channels between customers and companies. A great feature of this technology is its simplicity, as it does not require complex reading equipment,” Bellinghini added.

Innovations in recycled products produced from raw material from the Campo Limpo System, a reverse logistics program for empty packaging and post-consumer crop protection products, will add value and benefit the program.

“The sale of these materials generates resources to maintain the reverse logistics program, which currently sends 94 out of every 100 packages it receives for recycling. It is a cycle that creates value within the system and for society, through the creation of jobs,” affirmed João Cesar Rando, who is the CEO of inpEV, the managing entity of the Campo Limpo System.
