DVA Argentina launches Predecessor, the first triple-blend herbicide for soy

DVA Argentina launched, this month, the herbicide, Predecessor (Diclosulam 6.5 + Flumioxazin 14.5 + Imazetapyr 20), the first product in Argentina with a triple mix that is ready to use on soybeans. 

“It is a powerful and very fast-acting herbicide that combines the action of three active ingredients. Imazetapyr is a systemic herbicide with a high residual effect on susceptible weeds that germinate after application. It is absorbed by the root and foliar routes. Flumioxazin, which is a contact herbicide with high residual activity and excellent control of broadleaf weeds and annual grasses. It is absorbed by the root and foliar routes. Diclosulam is a selective systemic action herbicide for controlling broadleaf weeds in soybean cultivation,” DVA stated.

"It is an example of what we do at DVA for the benefit of the agri-food sector, with the contribution of German technology," said Dardo Lizárraga (General Manager of DVA Argentina). For his part, Daniel Maroni (Commercial Manager) added, "We want to place new tools in the hands of those who favor efficiency in their production, with a collaborative commercial commitment."

With regards to the benefits of Predecessor, DVA explained, “Broad spectrum of control against both broadleaf weeds and grasses, excellent permanence of between 60 and 80 days, reduction in seed banks, and enabling cultivation free from weeds for longer periods. Predecessor was launched during this campaign after several years of solid field tests carried out by leading specialists in the sector from different productive regions of the country.”

“In the 1990s, the first cases of herbicide-resistant weeds were registered, and from 2010, an explosive growth was recorded in the appearance of new biotypes of weeds resistant to different modes of action. This led to the need to make tank mixes of different products with different modes of action in each application that created two difficulties, which are the impracticality of generating them and the incompatibilities frequently observed in this type of mix," explained Ruben Meoni (Representative of Technical and Market Development, CDM, of DVA Argentina).

In the field, Predecessor has achieved greater efficacy against different weeds compared to other mixtures, as well as high flexibility during application, both pre-sowing or pre-emergence, while eliminating difficulties and saving time and costs, as it is a ready-to-use product with no need for mixing. Its efficiency in controlling difficult weeds is due to the fact that the triple mix contains three high performance active ingredients in the same product.
