Actinovate AG Biological Fungicide from Natural Industries is now approved for use against bacterial spot on tomatoes, peppers, and other crops, as well as for walnut blight in California.

Actinovate AG from Natural Industries is now approved for use against bacterial spot on tomatoes, peppers, and many other crops.

"What is particularly interesting is how well Actinovate AG performs tank mixed with a chemical fungicide,” said Matt Kowalski, president of Natural Industries. “With this disease, we have found Actinovate AG plus the standard rate of Acibenzolar-S-methyl outperforms the standard rate of the ehemical alone.”

Actinovate AG has also been approved for use in California against walnut blight. The product can be tank mixed with a standard adjuvant that has shown to reduce walnut blight disease incidence by up to 85%.

"What we are particularly interested in seeing next is how well Actinovate AG performs tank mixed with a copper product,” said Kowalski. “With other bacterial diseases, we have found Actinovate AG plus a very low rate of copper outperforms a high rate of copper alone. We will be testing this combination in our upcoming 2011 California trials against walnut blight and expect this same synergistic effect to occur.”

Actinovate AG contains the patented microorganism Streptomyces lydicus WYEC 108. When applied, this beneficial bacterium colonizes the surface of the roots and leaves. While growing with the plant, Actinovate AG attacks diseases employing several different modes of action. Soil diseases controlled/suppressed by Actinovate AG include Pythium, Phytophthora, Rhizoctonia, and Fusarium.
