Last month, Atanor Argentina officially launched the herbicide, Odisei, which is recommended for the control of broadleaf weeds and annual grasses during the chemical fallow prior to planting sulfonylurea-resistant soybean varieties.

Guillermo Fábregas (Marketing Manager of Atanor Argentina) said, "Odisei is a mixture of Sulfometuron Metil and Metsulfuron, created for use on soybeans tolerant to Sulfonil-Ureas. It is a pre-emergent, with different uses on fallows."

Fábregas added that persistence and cost-benefit ratio are among the advantages of Odisei, stating, “When we do the numbers and consider the costs, for herbicides, we have to think about the cost per day of residuality and what problems we have to solve. Persistence is essential. Also, if you think about cost per hectare, ours is lower than any mixture of graminicides.”

According to Fábregas, Argentina continues to experience many problematic weeds that are resistant to products currently available. "This has attracted our attention, and we are working on our herbicide portfolio and incorporating Odisei precisely to try to cover areas of vulnerability that are appearing," he further said.

Another feature highlighted by Fábregas is the concentration of active ingredients in the new product, which will allow the application of low doses. “Odisei can also be applied together with Paraquat, as well as graminicides. Our slogan is greater control for longer,” he said in conclusion.
