The president of the Rosario Stock Exchange (BCR), Daniel Nasini, estimated that the foreign exchange income from exports related to the Argentine agro-industrial sector would be around 28,000 million dollars in 2020, with an increase in sales of raw grains.

The manager, in a report with the Télam agency, assured that to date, despite the global isolation measures and measures to mitigate the progress of the coronavirus, the export of grains grew compared to 2019.

Regarding the impact of the pandemic on world grain trade, Nasin affirmed that worldwide there was a significant drop in the price of commodities, “but in grain it was not as pronounced as in the case, for example, of oil”.

“In what are agroindustrial products, such as soybeans, corn and wheat, the chain and marketing acted normally. Furthermore, more ships left and more grains and beans were exported from ports than last year. This it occurred despite the drop in the Paraná river, which means that the boats, not having sufficient draft, have to carry less and that is a cost for the agro-industry that the BCR calculated at US $ 240 million in the four-month period”,  the manager he explained.

Regarding the next wheat planting, the leader of the Rosario stock market said that the intention of planting, according to his estimates, is between 6.9 and 7.3 million hectares. “The prospects are very good and wheat could undoubtedly give producers liquidity by the end of the year. We estimate that planting will require an investment of US $ 1.9 billion and will be a campaign greater than or equal to last year. In wheat prices were a little higher and that makes planting intention high. If the weather is in line with production it can be around 21 million tons of wheat”, said.
