In support of the United Nations General Assembly's International Year of Plant Health, the Biological Products Industry Alliance (BPIA) will hold its 2020 Annual Meeting on March 2-4, in Portland, Oregon. The meeting sessions will include expert panels discussing topics like the growing use of biostimulants and biopesticides in commercial agriculture.

The United Nations General Assembly declared the year 2020 to be the International Year of Plant Health in order to shine a bright light on the critical part plant health must play to end hunger, reduce poverty, protect the environment, and boost economic development all over the planet.

"Rooted in a commitment to plant health, BPIA's mission of advancing sustainability through biological solutions is all about achieving plant health through reduced-risk products based on biological or naturally derived chemistry such as biostimulants, biopesticides, and biofertilizers," said Amy Plato Roberts, Senior Regulatory Affairs Manager for Lallemand Plant Care and newly elected Chair of the BPIA Board of Directors.

During the March meeting in Portland, Terry Stone, Co-Chair of BPIA's Biostimulant Innovation Committee, will moderate a session looking at the current state of biostimulants around the world including regulations, market expansion, and their role in plant health.

"We plan to have speakers from AAPCO [Association of American Pesticide Control Officials], AAPFCO [Association of American Plant Food Control Officials], EBIC [European Biostimulants Industry Council], USDA [United States Department of Agriculture], and USEPA [United States Environmental Protection Agency] provide updates on the rapidly developing biostimulant industry to hundreds of attendees from BPIA's over 135 member companies which range from innovative sole proprietors to international conglomerates," Stone said.

Attendance at the BPIA 2020 Annual Meeting is not limited to BPIA members. Anyone can register to attend here and learn more about natural ways to promote plant health.
