The emergency control period for the grapevine moth (Lobesia botrana) has entered into force in Argentina. The Resolution of the Senasa (National Service of Agricultural Health and Quality) No. 555/2018 establishes conditions and obligations on wine producers in relation to the delivery of inputs for the control of the Lobesia botrana pest in the province of Mendoza.

The resolution, published last September, establishes the requirements and obligations that wine producers in Mendoza who wish to receive inputs and provide aerial application services for pest control must meet. The assistance has been carried out by the governments of the National and Provincial States.

Among the conditions and obligations, include that the producer must be registered in the National Sanitary Registry of Agricultural Producers, complete and sign the documentation requested by the the Institute of Agricultural Health and Quality of Mendoza (ISCAMEN). The producer must also attend the training on the implementation of the Sexual Confusion Technique and the application of phytosanitary products, remove the inputs and place the pheromone diffusers in the productive establishment, respecting the dose delivered according to the Commitment Act and the spatial distribution indicated in the training provided.

On the other hand, the producer must make the corresponding complementary applications adjusted to the regulations in force, using the phytosanitary products authorized and registered by the Senasa, in accordance with the date established by the Official Alert System. The containers used, the purchase invoices and the phytosanitary notebook must be retained.

In the event that all the supplies provided by the National and Provincial State for the control of the pest had not been used in the 2018-2019 productive campaign, they should be returned immediately and charged to the agency responsible for their delivery.

It should be clarified that the wine producers located in the South Oasis who place the pheromone diffusers for the implementation of the TCS are not required to undergo complementary chemical controls.
