Campo Limpo invests R$21 million, launches new unit in Brazil

Campo Limpo Recycling and Transformation of Plastics SA announced an investment of R$21 million to open a new unit in Ribeirão Preto, São Paulo, which will produce new plastic packaging from recycled resins made from used agrochemical packaging.
A world pioneer in this sector, Campo Limpo built the unit in record time, just over six months from the launch of the idea to the opening of the new plant. This process would normally take up to three years. The company’s Ribeirão Preto branch has three plastic blowers that were installed individually and were at full capacity soon after opening.
“Campo Limpo S.A. is part of the Campo Limpo System, the most successful empty pesticide packaging reverse logistics system in the world, which meets specific legislation. The law guarantees the final disposal of pesticide packaging used in the field and is based on sharing responsibilities related to defining the roles of every agent in the production chain, from manufacturers, distributers, farmers and public authorities,” explained the company.
The Ribeirão Preto unit will create 40 direct jobs and its employees will be trained at its factory in the city of Taubaté, also in the state of São Paulo. “It was a period of intense immersion, always under the guidance of more experienced employees. Training must continue to ensure that Campo Limpo's quality and values remain the same,” the company added.
The Indian company, UPL, which has a production unit in Ituverava located less than 90 kilometers from Ribeirão Preto, packages 100% of its products in Campo Limpo’s packaging. “This represents great value for the company, not only because of our social and environmental responsibility, but also for economic reasons. The company is launching more sustainable products in the market, so there is an important economic gain. Now, with the factory in Ribeirão, the gain in logistics will be added,” Alexandra dos Santos (Supply Chain Manager at UPL) said.
Ourofino Agribusiness is another company that will benefit from its proximity to Campo Limpo. According to Ana Cláudia Caetano, who is responsible for the company's purchases, this is a great opportunity to make commercial agreements, increase the use of sustainable packaging, and take advantage of Campo Limpo's expertise in providing services and support.
The Ribeirão Preto plant represents a significant increase in Campo Limpo's production capacity, which will give customers more confidence and increase the use of recycled packaging, said Carlos Barbosa Melo (Industrial Manager of Manufacturing at Uberaba-based SipcamNichino).
The system currently collects 94% of primary plastic packaging for recycling or incineration, and is based on the principle of shared responsibilities in the reverse logistics of empty pesticide packaging. Every link in the production chain has its role, whether farmers, manufacturers and distributors, with support from the government.
