Syngenta has launched its non-selective herbicide, Cerillo (paraquat + diuron), in Argentina as a complement to the herbicide, glyphosate , for use on autumn and spring fallow land. It aims to use Cerillo to stop the progressive resistance of weeds such as shepherd's purse (Capsella bursa-pastoris) and henbit deadnettle (Lamium amplexicaule) to glyphosate. Two industry associations, the CASAFE and the Ciafa, confirmed the first reported resistance to the herbicide in Argentina from a Johnsongrass (Sorghum halapense) biotype in 2006.
