Syngenta Seeds, Inc., the global leader in the sunflower industry, recently introduced three new sunflower hybrids for 2011. The new hybrids, 3733 NS/DM Brand, 3495 NS/CL/DM Brand and 3990 NS/CL/DM Brand, all meet NuSun oleic standards and feature downy mildew resistance which will help growers in the Dakotas and High Plains protect against the disease and achieve high yields.

"We are excited to introduce these new hybrids to help growers achieve excellent yields and oil content," said Jim Johnson, sunflower product manager at Syngenta Seeds, Inc. "These new hybrids, the result of Syngentas largest germplasm base in the industry and unmatched global research pipeline, further enhance our portfolio of top performing products."

The new sunflower hybrids available for 2011 are:

* 3733 NS/DM Brand (97 Day RM), a downy mildew resistant version of our leading hybrid 3732 NS Brand. This NuSun hybrid features shorter than average plant height along with high and stable yield performance. Widely adaptable, this hybrid has performed well in North Dakota, South Dakota and the High Plains.

* 3495 NS/CL/DM Brand (95 Day RM), an early maturity CLEARFIELD hybrid and an excellent fit for North Dakota sunflower growers at 95 day relative maturity. This early maturity NuSun hybrid was among the top yielding hybrid in two years of university trials and combines excellent downy mildew resistance with a strong disease package and good standability.

* 3990 NS/CL/DM Brand (97 Day RM), a hybrid that combines the CLEARFIELD herbicide system for post emergence weed control in a NuSun hybrid with downy mildew resistance. With an excellent disease package, this new hybrid performs well in areas with a history of sclerotinia. This 97 day relative maturity hybrid is well adapted to North Dakota and offers excellent yield potential.
