In China, the field testing of pesticides is an integral part of the registration process, serving as an important basis of how to assess the safety of the pesticide awaiting registration. Field trials are also the basis of developing pesticide applications.

This report will summarize the field trials of insecticides containing novel active ingredients conducted in China between 2015 and 2017. Over the last three years, a total of 18 insecticides containing novel active ingredients have been conducted, including six bisamides, three neonicotines, two mesoionics, three miticides and four other types of insecticides. These field trials covered applications related to nine crops, which are vegetables, melon, tea tree, fruit tree, cotton, rice, wheat, corn and tobacco, targeting 14 types of insect pests, which are diamond back moth, cabbage caterpillar, beet armyworm, prodenia litura, bemisia tabaci, aphid, thrip, phyllotreta vittuta fabr, rice plant hopper, rice stem borer, rice leaf folder, red spider, European corn borer and cotton bollworm.
