“Brazil lived through almost a decade of pessimism and decreasing levels of investment, the so-called ‘Bear Market,’ but this contagious negativity no longer exists. We live in an age of transition,” said Dr. Marco Saravalle, MSc, Investment Strategist at Banco Safra do Brasil, during a lecture at the 12th Brazil AgrochemShow, attended by AgroPages.

Speaking about the topic, “Brazilian Macroeconomic Scenario,” Dr. Saravalle stated that the current environment encourages risky investments, as it is not worth leaving money simply invested, adding that even the trade war between the United States (US) and China is not something to worry about, because it is an opportunity to diversify global trade.

“The trade war is bad for everyone, but it will not cause a new cycle of economic recession. It gets everyone’s attention in the news, and it is being used by US President Donald Trump as a weapon to secure his re-election,” said Saravalle to an audience of dozens of visitors at the event.

According to Saravalle, Brazil can benefit from this dispute if it can establish strategic trade partnerships. “Brazil is not an easy country to invest in, but it offers many opportunities. We still have infrastructure issues, bureaucracy and tax burdens, but we have a lot of potential. Despite this low point, investors can potentially reap benefits in the future,” he stressed.

Saravalle noted that inflation is stable in Brazil and should be around 3.6% at the end of the year, and this scenario will remain the same for the next three years, as the basic interest rate of the economy is set low at 3.6%, and should close at 5% end of 2019. “Low interest rates are here to stay,” he warned.

“Brazil is about to accelerate into a cycle of economic growth, which we have not had for a long time. It is time to take risks for greater future returns,” concluded Saravalle.

As the official media partner of 12th Brazil AgrochemShow, AgroPages attended the event and distributed its latest magazine, titled, “2019 Latin America Focus.” Readers are welcome to download the digital magazine.
