The Agricultural Technologies Validation Center (CEDEVA) and Biofábrica Misiones S.A. have signed an agreement to build a bio-inputs laboratory in Formosa, Argentina.

In this first instance, the purpose of this laboratory is to produce a fungus that attacks the banana weevil, about which Biofábrica Misiones and the executive coordination of the CEDEVA have been working together for five years.

When determining that the fungus is efficient in the control of insect that attacks the banana and has reduced the population in the sampling area, they will begin to produce it in Formosa, and distribute it to all small producers that cultivate bananas.

It was explained that the use of this methodology avoids affecting the environment with insecticides, especially because those recommended to control this insect are highly toxic, not only for the environment, but also for those persons handling and applying it.

In terms of health, it is an agrochemical tool that the agricultural family will be able to use in, but with little environmental impact since it leaves no waste, is safe for use and also for those who consume products from the farm.

It is an advanced technology for small farmers and a project that faces the government of the province, focusing on the future of production.
