Health Canada’s Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) recently announced the approval of an URMULE (user requested minor use label expansion) registration for Milstop foliar fungicide for suppression of powdery mildew on field and greenhouse mint in Canada.

Milstop was already labeled for use on a number of crops in Canada for control/suppression of several diseases.

This minor use project was sponsored by OMAFRA as a result of minor use priorities established by growers and extension personnel.

The following is provided as an abbreviated, general outline only. Users should be making pest management decisions within a robust integrated disease management program and should consult the complete label before using Milstop.

For suppression of powdery mildew, apply Milstop foliar fungicide at a rate of 280 to 560 g per 1000 m2 to greenhouse-grown mint or 2.8 to 5.6 kg/ha to field-grown mint. Apply at the first sign of disease. Repeat at 7 to 14-day intervals until conditions are no longer favourable for disease development. Maximum 10 applications per season. Milstop can be applied up to the day of harvest.

Do not contaminate off-target areas or aquatic habitats when spraying or when cleaning and rinsing spray equipment or containers. Follow all precautions and detailed directions for use on the Milstop label carefully.

For a copy of the new minor use label contact your local crop specialist, regional supply outlet or visit the PMRA label site http://www.hc-sc.gc.ca/cps-spc/pest/registrant-titulaire/tools-outils/label-etiq-eng.php
