Corteva Agriscience™, Agriculture Division of DowDuPont, launched its official North-West & West Central Africa (NWAF & WCAF) regional headquarters in Casablanca, Morocco. The Casablanca office will act as Corteva Agriscience’ s business centre for customers, partners and consumers in its main markets of Algeria, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroun, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Mali, Morocco, Nigeria, Niger, Tunisia, Togo and Senegal, bringing farmers the right mix of seeds, crop protection and digital solutions to maximize their yields and improve their profitability in these markets.

This development brings the number of Corteva Agriscience offices across the African continent to four, with other offices operational in Cairo, Johannesburg, Nairobi and now Casablanca.

“Moroccan agriculture has made great progress in terms of modernisation and diversification and it made it a strategically sound location for Corteva Agriscience to establish its regional headquarters. This is a natural recognition of Morocco’s role as the agricultural hub for the North-West & West Central Africa (NWAF & WCAF) region,” says Prabdeep Bajwa, President, Corteva Agriscience, Africa and Middle East.

Corteva Agriscience has developed some of the best talent, technology, innovation and R&D capabilities that will uniquely position it to transform the food system by helping farmers grow better, abundant and healthier crops while using fewer natural resources. The NWAF & WCAF commercial area currently serves cocoa, cotton, rice and corn, banana, vegetables tea and cereal markets.

The commercial area will be managed by industry veteran, Alain Pescay, who brings a wealth of experience and supported by local talent and experts who are knowledgeable about the region’s food security needs and farmer demands.

“The opening of the Casablanca office is an exciting opportunity to develop and strengthen our partnership with farmers, the authorities, public and private actors in the agricultural sector, in Morocco and the other countries in NWAF & WCAF markets,” said Alain Pescay, Commercial Director of Corteva Agriscience, North West, West and Central Africa commercial area. “We look forward to working with all stakeholders in the food system to provide a safe supply of healthy food,” said Pescay.

Corteva Agriscience brings together DuPont Crop Protection, DuPont Pioneer and Dow AgroSciences to create a market-shaping, standalone agriculture company with leading market positions in Seed Technologies, Crop Protection, and Digital Agriculture. In Africa and Middle East, Corteva Agriscience will continue to invest in some of the most recognised and premium brands in agriculture, such as Pioneer®, and PANNAR® seed brands, as well as award-winning crop protection products that help farmers maximise their crop yields as well as the environment. In addition to new hybrids in corn, sunflower, and new traits in seeds, several crop protection new active ingredients have been registered, including Spinetoram, Isoclast™, Arylex™, Rinskor™, Inatreq™, Zorvec™ and Optinyte™ which are among some of the game-changing products which will be launched between now and 2021. The crop protection products are developed to reduce risks and increase farmer control over pests, weeds, and diseases; and are, at the same time, environmentally-conscious.

The Casablanca office will be supported by the headquarters for Africa and the Middle East located in Pretoria, South Africa.  “With more than 60 countries, Africa and the Middle East is diverse and complex and our regional structure is geared towards being closer to farmers and helps us serve them in the way they want to be served, allowing us to build strong relationships with them and channel partners on the ground,” concluded Bajwa.

The business has been active in Africa for over 60 years and supports a broad range of crops, a wide range of farm sizes in various stages of technology adoption and a range of economic and market conditions. Its large footprint allows Corteva Agriscience™ to deliver solutions for farmers, deliver products and services that will continue to move the industry forward.
