CropLife America reports:

BASF

The decision to extend registration of Engenia® herbicide for an additional two years means that farmers will continue to have access to a critically needed tool to fight the expansion of herbicide-resistant weeds in their soybean and cotton fields. Farmers have told us that Engenia herbicide has given them the cleanest fields they have seen in years. Clean fields can lead to higher yields. That means farmers are able to grow more and sell more.

BASF is committed to promoting stewardship and helping dicamba applicators follow the label and spray on target. More than 90,000 applicators were trained in 2018. BASF trained nearly a third of those applicators and we will continue our training efforts to include the label updates.

Crop protection products help farmers around the world control weeds, insects and diseases enabling them to satisfy an increasing demand for food, feed, fiberand fuel. Both performance and safety of our products are imperative not only for sustainable agriculture but also for society. Potential risks to human health and the environment are thoroughly investigated and minimized throughout the research and development process of a pesticide. Over the 10+ years it takes to bring a crop protection product to market, 200-300 scientific studies are conducted to ensure that products meet the highest safety standards. On average, about 800 requirements must be addressed to receive registration.

Our website, www.engeniastewardship.com, will continue to host a comprehensive set of resources to educate applicators on the most up-to-date information to make on-target applications.
