AgroPages Awards will be granted to Products with Incomparable Market Potential in China. This year, top 10 oversea biopesticides, biostimulants and novel fertilizers will win the accolade. Some companies with interests in China’s market have recommended their products to us and submitted the product files since the event was launched. One of them is fertilizer Multi-N from Micromix Plant Health Ltd.

According to the company, Multi-N is foliar fertilizer which encompasses 50% of a reacted urea thio-sulphate technology from a unique form of bio-available sulphur and 50% ammoniacal nitrogen, which is safened by a proprietary formulation of binding agents and synthetic latex to provide a nitrogen formulation that is safer than any alternative foliar N.

Why use Multi-N for Foliar Application?

Multi-N can provide 85% grain N uptake efficiency. The product has a special blend of surfactants resulting in high leaf retention and optimal droplet size to maximize nitrogen uptake. Also, as Multi-N is absorbed rapidly and its formula is very stable (low ammonia volatilization), the product doesn’t cause leaf scorch. Natural humectants and synthetic latex can slow the droplet drying time that makes nitrogen soluble and available for a longer time compared to other foliar N fertilizer. All these lead to a higher yield per unit nitrogen use.

Furthermore, Multi-N is easy to apply. Standard spraying techniques can be used and it’s compatible with most pesticides.

With such efficient products, growers would need less and distributors are able to make higher margins. Fertilizing crops using Multi-N has a massive effect on reducing the environmental impact of N fertilization. Trials have demonstrated that reductions on overall N usage of 25% are possible without loss of yield or quality. Losses of N to ground water have been reduced by up to 90% and volatilization losses by up to 30%. It contributes to both the environment and cost savings for the supply chain.

“We are developing the product rapidly in China,” said Doug Chaplin, Business and Operations Manager of Micromix. “Forward orders are so great that our plan is to produce locally in China in future. We will send the premix from the UK and our local Chinese partner will formulate it with liquid urea, pack and distribute throughout China. We have already identified our partner in China and plan to make a joint venture.”
