Farm Market iD launches MarketView: A business intelligence platform
Jul. 24, 2018
MarketView will help ag companies improve the strategy-building process - which is currently based on anecdotal observations, habit and history, or simply intuition - by providing analytical rigor to substantiate decision-making.
"The idea for this platform came from discussions with our customers. They asked us for a tool to help them with strategic analysis," says Steve Rao, CEO of Farm Market iD. "They wanted to find answers to specific, important questions around market share, wallet share, trends in farming and crop decisions, supply chain dynamics and more."
Since the platform is based on granular data going down to farm, farmer and field level, it allows strategic analysis to drive tactical implementation. MarketView leverages data visualization and dashboards to allow the non-technical user to leverage Big Data and data science.
MarketView derives its power from the Farm Market iD database, which covers 95 percent of all crops and growers in the United States with detailed field and grower history. Unlike other business intelligence (BI) tools, MarketView comes pre-loaded with the data ag companies need to answer key strategic questions.
In addition to Farm Market iD's historic grower and crop data that goes back to 2014, MarketView can include new datasets like in-season crop data, predictive crop data and on-farm grain storage to deliver the most up-to-date market insights. MarketView users can also bring their own data into the platform to understand how their different areas of business map to the market and opportunities and see how the platform can aid in revealing new revenue opportunities.
MarketView is the long-awaited strategy software that fits within Farm Market iD's Strategy-Marketing-Sales framework. Now, MarketView combines with FarmFocus (Marketing) and FieldVision (Sales) that drives ag companies' entire revenue and go-to-market operation from start-to-finish.
