AgroPages-EU's food safety council concerned about effects of diquat-Agricultural news

EFSA, the EU's food safety authority, has again expressed concern about the effects of diquat, a widely used pesticide manufactured by Syngenta, on farm workers.

Syngenta, which has lobbied for years to keep diquat on the market, claims EFSA used overly conservative parameters when reviewing human exposure to the weedkiller. Diquat's license, temporarily extended in the EU, will expire on June 30.
