Brazil approved the registration for Nufarm’s insecticide Kaiso Sorbie (Lambda-cyhalothrin). Kaiso Sorbie is a new alternative for the control of the Boll weevil in cotton.

The most important plague in crops, the Boll Weevil provokes billions in losses for Brazilian agriculture. Brazil holds the fourth position among the largest cotton exporters, but according to estimates of cotton growers, it can reach the second place within five years if it eradicates this plague that represents nearly 10 percent more production or US$250 per hectare in production costs.

Besides controlling the Boll Weevil, the insecticide is also recommended for combating the Cotton leafworm.

In soybeans, the Kaiso Sorbie is indicated for the control of the Velvetbean caterpillar and the shield bug. In corn, the product has a recommendation for combating the Fall Armyworm (Spodoptera frugiperda) and the Dichelops melacanthus.

Regarding the technology application, the insecticide can also be used on land with coastal manual, engine-powered, and tractor bar. In addition, it can be applied through aerial spraying with agricultural aircraft. According to the package insert of Kaiso Sorbie, “The product is not toxic for the crop if the indicated dose is administered and recommended conditions followed.”
