Solvay recently held an Agro Tech Day in Shanghai, China, successfully attracting more than 140 customers, partners and professionals. During the Group’s first multi-client tech day held in China, Solvay Agro presented an array of products for the emerging agrochemical markets and explained how customers could address the global challenges faced by industry. Particularly in China, environmental inspection campaigns are forcing agrochem companies to modify their products or remove certain components from their production.

Solvay Agro Tech-Day

Farming may be one of the world’s oldest occupations, but the activity remains fast-evolving. With exciting developments such as biology breeding, advances in agricultural machinery and agronomy, crop nutrition and protection, as well as an increasing focus on environmental and plant protection, the agrochemical products that farmers rely on are not only becoming safer, but also more compatible with various, fertilizers, pesticides and micronutrients. Solvay’s sustainable products are guided by these principles, introducing new concepts into crop protection market and producing cross-section innovations that improve upon on existing technologies.

The event revolved around four topics: plant protection, enhanced efficiency fertilizer (EEF), seed treatment and agricultural film auxiliary. Through various ways including technology demonstrations and seminars, Solvay experts from agrochemical field helped customers gain a deeper understanding of Solvay agrochemical products and technologies whilst strengthened the value propositions in agrochemical market.

For crop protection solutions, Solvay Novecare GBU presented the latest innovative and sustainable solutions comprising eco-friendly and versatile solutions on formulations, right-to-target adjuvants with anti-drift and anti-rebound properties designed for aerial equipment. In particular, drone spray solutions has stimulated intensive discussions.

Fertilizer is food for plant, but overuse of fertilizer results in not only economic loss but also environmental issues. Solvay’s AgRho N-Protect™  is a liquid fertilizer additive that helps protect nitrogen, enabling farmers and fertilizer companies to use nitrogen fertilizer more effectively and helping to protect the environment by reducing the release of ammonium and nitrous oxide into the air, as well as reducing the leaching of Nitrate into the rivers.

Agricultural film, too, has become an important tool for farmers, alongside seeds, fertilizers and pesticides. These durable films withstand high solar radiation and high temperatures, providing a greenhouse environment with high light transmission to promote plant growth.
