Expointer 2017: New Holland launches “smart” agrochemical sprayer in Brazil

By Leonardo Gottems, reporter for AgroPages

The “Defensor 2500” sprayer, the most advanced sprayer available this year, was launched during Expointer 2017. According to the manufacturer, New Holland, Defensor 2500 was designed to protect Brazilian crops.

Expointer 2017, one of the largest agricultural fairs in Brazil and also in Latin America, which was held in Esteio, Rio Grande do Sul from August 26 to September 3. AgroPages attended this fair with its latest published bilingual magazine (English & Spanish) – 2017 Latin America Focus

“The farmer can certainly achieve higher productivity by using Defensor 2500. We were able to create a strong design that features fuel economy, protection for the operator and smart controls while applying agrochemicals,” said Roberto Jonker, Product Marketing Manager at New Holland.

Equipped with a 175-horse power six-cylinder FPT Industrial engine with greater torque, the new sprayer has greater precision while working on flat or steep terrain. “Defensor 2500 can easily work in various conditions without any loss of speed, a revolution in the field application of agrochemicals,” added Jonker.

The sprayer is designed to perfectly apply agrochemicals on gradients of up to 21%. Using its PWM pump, it can rapidly correct its application of agrochemicals while guaranteeing greater precision. It can also disengage its nozzles on certain elevations when they are not required, avoiding the waste of its stored agrochemicals.

Defensor 2500 is available in 27-meter and 24-meter models, with either a 9-section or 5-section cut option, and is highly efficient without greater fuel consumption. An EcoCruise mode can also be activated while working on flatter terrain. When this is activated, the machine’s rotation track is automatically reduced without damaging the application, saving on fuel by 15%.
