Sichuan China: UPL named "The Citrus Forum"qrcode

As part of UPL Global Initiatives "Farmer First Program ", UPL China organized the ever popular farmer education platform for fungicide resistance management, this time on citrus crop "The Citrus Forum" at Meishan, Sichuan on 15th June . Meishan, which located in Sichuan of China, around 120KM from Chengdou, is known for its citrus planting.

Top citrus growers, regulators, citrus research scientists and members of trade from all over China were invited to participate and discuss how to improve the citrus growing , trends in the crop, fungicide resistance management and relevant technical information via both online and offline broadcasting. In house specialist from UPL China, India and Brazil also joined the forum to share their global and local experiences. The grand forum was opened by Global COO of UPL – Mr. Carlos Pellicer.

UPL is the global leading player in Mancozeb and Copper fungicides. With constant innovation and improvements at UPL, combined with closely working and exchanging knowledge with the farming, scientific communities and regulators , UPL’s fungicide resistance management is the most effective and active. In this forum, the role of Mancozeb and Copper in fungicide resistance management in citrus and as ideal partners of curative fungicides as either premix or tank mix was specially shared with a lot of details along with global references for the benefit of local growers.

Since a lot of fruits are wasted after harvest, UPL’s Post-Harvest specialty company Decco also shared post harvest solutions for citrus industry.

The invited researcher- Dr. Ruan Chun, Director of CAC department of CRIC, introduced latest practices in citrus orchards insects management, he also emphasized seriously attention to the red spider and scale resistance to the chemical insecticide; Dr. Wang Xiaochuan, President of the Agricultural Science and Technology Popularization Institute in Dongpo district of Meishan city, in his detailed lecture explained the importance of citrus disease management.

Mr Li Yongan as the Vice President of Meishan Fruit Association shared his experience of citrus management in nutrition and orchards management also key citrus purchasers expressed their concern on citrus quality and some methods which help growers to manage the citrus orchards economically.


Since farmers look forward to these forums, UPL promised to come back soon with dates of next forum on another crop and also announced that soon a new fungicide with special technology will be launched, which will not just fight disease and resistance in various crops but also improve yields significantly.
