DuPont has received federal registration from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for the use of DuPont Dermacor X-100 seed treatment on rice seed. This innovative product has been helping rice growers get longer-lasting control of costly pests since 2008, when the EPA approved a Section 18 Emergency Exemption for use of Dermacor X-100 in the control of rice water weevil larvae.

"Dermacor X-100 seed treatment helps establish better root systems on early seedlings, giving them better utilization of the fertilizer application, so the plants are much healthier during their early stages," said Michael Hensgens, retailer/seed processor, G&H Seed Company, Midland, La. "This allows the crop to grow faster and pick up nutrients more effectively. After using Dermacor X-100, last season was our highest-yielding harvest ever."
M.O. Way, Ph.D., research/Extension entomologist, Texas A&M University Agricultural Research and Extension Center, was pleased with results that Texas growers have achieved with Dermacor X-100. "The efficacy is very good," he said. "It gives excellent control of rice water weevils and stalk borers."

"DuPont is pleased to offer a convenient seed treatment application that provides long-lasting plant protection to help rice growers improve yield potential," said John Chrosniak, regional business director for North America, DuPont Crop Protection. "As we continue to develop innovative, sustainable offerings, Dermacor X-100 seed treatment represents one of the many solutions DuPont offers to help growers protect crops from damaging insects."
