Indian Potash Limited (IPL) has been certified by SGS to the Protect & Sustain standard of the International Fertilizer Association (IFA).

A major distributor of potash based fertilizer, IPL is the first non-producing IFA member to receive this certification.

The award was issued on May 19, 2017, following an onsite audit by SGS. The certificate of excellence was formally presented to IPL at the recent IFA conference in Marrakesh, Morocco.

Jeff Dowson, SGS Global Head International Sales and Accounts, said: “It’s a great privilege to have another first for SGS and at the same time show the true commitment of IPL. This first certification of a non-producer member marks a new dawn for the IFA Protect & Sustain standard and opens the door now for other non-producers to embrace the principles of the standard. Not only did IPL meet the requirements, they reached a high level of compliance during the process, demonstrating how well they manage their business."

The Protect & Sustain standard was developed by IFA, with support from SGS, in 2010. It is a tool for helping member businesses meet their health, safety, quality and security needs while increasing profits. The standard is aimed at boosting best practice among IFA members. SGS has been an approved audit body since 2010.
