The 2016 experimental data on Bayer Much More Rice crop protection solution has been released by the Chinese Ministry of Agriculture.

The conclusions show that the program has effectively controlled rice insects, disease and weed, which ensured the protection of the farmland ecosystem, increased earnings of farmers and achieved the objective of “decreasing pesticide use and increasing synergist effect.”

In 2016, National Agricultural Technology Extension Service Center (NATESC) under MOA conducted trials with Bayer Much More Rice solution in seven provinces in cold rice region and Yangtze flow area as China’s major rice production area. Compared with the regular crop protection practices, the final data indicated that the number of pesticide applications on average to the rice fields under the program decreased from 3 times to 2 times and the dosage of application per Mu was down by 55.08 percent.

Furthermore, the yield per Mu increased by 10.15 percent, from 539.86 kilogram to 594.64 kilogram. The income increased by 9.45 percent, from Yuan1,330.73 up to Yuan1,457.22, resulted from reduced costs and improved yield.

Bayer Much More Rice was launched in 2013, consisting of crop protection solution and service provided to Chinese rice growers. It advocates an integrated management approach to ensure healthy rice plants throughout its lifecycle, and reduce impact from insect, disease and weed so as to protect paddy rice from damages, as well as to reduce number of applications and dosage of applications. These measures are expected to improve rice quality and rice yield, thus to ensure maximum incomes of farmers.
Since the launch of the program in 2013, Bayer CropScience has cooperated with NATESC in the rice production regions of China. Experimental results over many years have proved that the program has economic, social and environmental value.
