Envigo recently launched a dedicated Science and Technology Advisory Group (STAG) to support research and development internally and in partnership with customers.

Envigo’s STAG will be involved in all aspects of the company including pharmaceutical development, research models and services, crop protection and chemicals testing. STAG will sponsor Envigo’s programs to improve capabilities. STAG will also explore partnerships for collaborations and research. Envigo already has an arrangement with Kings College London to collaborate with students with cardiovascular and pharmacology knowledge.

“We are encouraging our scientists to put forward new projects for funding, acting as an internal innovation incubator, but also we are going out to market and asking our customers if they have research problems they would like us to develop into commercial solutions,” STAG Deputy Chair Brian Burlinson said. “However, it’s not just about today’s problems, as we are also partnering with universities, both on developing new science and offering work placements to graduates. Our ethos is to instill a culture of new science that permeates all areas of the business.”

For the first three years, the STAG will have a core membership of six to eight representatives coming from a wide spectrum within the company. In the future, the STAG membership will rotate on two-year cycles in order to discuss and develop new ideas.
