U.S.-based trade association Biopesticide Industry Alliance (BPIA) had its largest-ever semi-annual meeting in Arlington, Virginia this month where it celebrated many milestones.

This year, BPIA welcomed 20 new member companies, and its board of directors began to expand the association with changes to membership and voted to recognize the importance of production efficiency and maximizing plant potential by including bio-stimulants in the construct of BPIA. Finally, the board voted for membership categories for growers and food processors.

“This is a period of unprecedented growth for the biological products industry,” Rick Melnick, chair of the BPIA board of directors, said. “Our growth in membership and the bio-stimulant industry's desire to be part of BPIA is a testament to the diligence and hard work of all our member companies. By delivering effective, sustainable products that meet the needs of society, our members create value that extends well beyond the point of sale. We look forward to continuing with that mission.”

Jeff Blackwood, BASF’s senior manager of government affairs, and Keith Pitts, Morrone Bio Innovations’ chief sustainability officer, were both elected as new board members.

BPIA now has more than 100 member companies both domestic and international.
