Nufarm has announced the launch of a systemic insecticide for seed treatment, Inside FS, which will have exclusive distribution rights in Brazil. Recommended for the crops of cotton, corn, and soybeans, the product was found in tests and research to be highly effective in plague control for insects such as stink bugs (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae) and the fieldwide oriental beetle, according to the manager of Seed Treatment for Latin America at Nufarm, João Nunes.

"The product allows the farmer to treat the corn, soybeans, and cotton seeds on the property and to sow seeds at the most appropriate moment,” stated Nunes. “The application of this insecticide for seeds offers security, as it does not interfere with the germination process and development of plants.”

According to Nunes, Inside FS is a cutting-edge technology, focusing on the stink bug in corn crops. “This plague is responsible for major losses for corn producers in the initial growth stage of the crop,” noted Nunes.

In the case of the fieldwide beetle, he said the action of Inside FS protects against damage caused at the root of the crop. “The results in the field, seen prior to the launch, have shown that the action of Inside FS controls with great effectiveness the defoliating beetles, such as the Sternechus subsignatus, and yet there will still be a range of sucking insects left unharmed,” Nunes added.

Manager of Trade Marketing at Nufarm Paulo Tiburcio pointed out that with the launch of Inside FS, Nufarm had reinforced the presence of seed treatments in the Brazilian market, which earn some US$800 million annually.

According to Tiburcio, the line of technologies offered by the company for seed treatment is found in the Adage 350 FS, Apro RFC, Carbomax 500 SC, and Fipronil alta 250 FS products, used with success in crops such as cotton, peanuts, rice, barley, kidney beans, sunflowers, pasture, soybeans, and wheat.
