After more than 45 years of business presence in the Philippines, Monsanto chooses a Filipina to lead its business in the county. Monsanto Company recently appointed Rachel P. Lomibao as Monsanto’s commercial lead for the Philippines.

“This appointment is perceived by many as a big win for women in agriculture which is traditionally dominated by men,” said Chat Ocampo, Monsanto’s corporate engagement lead. “As a leader in agricultural biotechnology, Monsanto is really paving the way for highly capable and competent women to occupy leadership positions.”

Ocampo further shared that Lomibao’s appointment is reflective of Monsanto’s strong commitment to develop in- country talent to take on leadership roles. Monsanto is also active in providing equal opportunity to all staff members towards having a truly diverse and inclusive workforce.

Lomibao joined Monsanto in 2012 as the marketing lead and thereafter assumed the position of national sales lead in 2014. Through both these roles, Rachel has built a sound understanding of Monsanto, thereby strengthening her critical thinking about its business, customers and products. Prior to joining Monsanto, she worked at Pioneer Hi-Bred Philippines and at DuPont Crop Protection in sales and marketing.

Lomibao graduated with a bachelors degree in Communications at the University of Philippines and subsequently acquired a masters degree in Business Administration at the Ateneo Graduate School of Business, Philippines.

“Rachel has already proven that she has strong leadership skills as well as excellent business and technical skills,” said Ocampo. “All of us at Monsanto are highly optimistic that she will be able to steer our organization to achieve even greater heights.”
