The marketing manager of Ihara, Clayton Emanuel da Veiga, highlights the most perceptible change in the crop protection market in the last few years in Brazil. “The Brazilian farmers has become a lot more demanding. The technicians, regardless of the area they belong to, have been demanded and I would say that even chosen by their technical capacity to solve problems, take solutions to their customer,” Veiga said.

“More than worried about the fall of the agrochemicals market, we are turning our efforts to understand the problems experienced by farmers and seeking to develop solutions that contribute to their success. It is with this purpose that we seek to be prepared to continually grow and strengthen the Brazilian agriculture. Ihara is a Brazilian company operating in all the national territory and with stakeholder with global actions, headquarters in Japan and high investments on research and development of cutting-edge technologies,” said Veiga in an interview to Global Agrochemicals portal.

He commented also that the Ihara strategy for the market of biological crop protection product. “The use of biological products on combating phytosanitary problems yet has a lot to advance in Brazil, though there was a sharp growth in the recent years. The association of tools that bring the farmers effective management confirm the direction that we have given at the development of new solutions. Today we have a robust portfolio and a presence of biological product and for a mid-term we are convinced that our good pipeline of product will come true and become useful tool for farmers.”

The executive criticizes the slow registration of new products. For him, “we have the most restrictive evaluation of agrochemicals in the world. All the innovations pass through rigorous criteria of evaluation that measure the interaction and results under the most diverse aspects, always seeking to preserve the safety of consumer. This is commendable. On the other hand, there is no way to say over the time that the agencies have taken to this role like innumerous cases of over five years for the approval. In practice, this long time have deprived the Brazilian farmers of the best result in shorter deadlines.”

“Our country has a key role in food production. In order to offer more food and, at the same time, to be more competitive, we need to increase crop yields and the use of technologies that help farmers to increase productivity will be always demanded. We have to do it always with safe products for the environment and for all people that handle it. This is a driver of our development time and we treat it with these aspects with decision factors of viability of existing projects,” concludes Veiga, who is an agronomist and has an MBA in Marketing with an emphasis on Commercial Operations and Business Management.
